2020 US election: Biden leads Democrats in NBC/WSJ poll
Former United States Vice President Joe Biden is leading the Democratic presidential field, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.
The poll shows 26% of Democrat voters will back Mr Biden in next year’s Democratic primaries or caucuses, while 19% will support Senator Elizabeth Warren.
Senators Kamala Harris and Bernie Sanders tie in third place at 13%.
Mayor Pete Buttigieg scored 7% of Democratic primary voters, with both former Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke and entrepreneur Andrew Yang at 2%.
The poll suggests Mr Biden is considered a stable and unifying candidate, performing the best among African Americans, older Democrats, moderates and conservatives.
Meanwhile, Senator Warren holds strong support with self-described liberals and those aged 18 to 49.
Senator Sanders also performs well among the youngest Democratic primary voters.
The poll was conducted 7-9 July, after the first Democratic debates and the subsequent candidate skirmishes.
