AFP raids ABC offices in Ultimo
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) are raiding the ABC’s office in Sydney over a 2017 investigative series into Australia’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan.
The series is based on classified files acquired by journalists Dan Oakes and Sam Clark, which detailed “incidents of troops killing unarmed men and children”.
According to the ABC, the AFP’s search warrant names Mr Oakes, Mr Clark and the public broadcaster’s Director of News Gaven Morris.
The raid comes a day after AFP officers searched News Corp journalist Annika Smethurst’s Canberra home in relation to a story published last year concerning potential new powers for the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD).
However, OPMagazine understands the two raids are not connected.
This is a developing story.
