Ten-year-old skater secures UK championship title, aims for Olympics

Ten-year-old Sky Brown won her first UK Skateboard Championships event on Sunday (local time), scoring 308 points to secure the title.

Ms Brown took victory in women’s park at her first national competition, ahead of Amy Ram with 275 points and Rebecca Davies with 260.

“I was a little nervous, but it was really fun,” Ms Brown said. “I just wish I could have done even better.”

Featuring more than 140 of Britain’s best skateboarders, the competition counts towards qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where skateboarding will make its debut.

Ms Brown, who spends much of the year in the United States, will return to the United Kingdom in May to compete in the National Surfing Championships in Cornwall, according to her father.
